He means more to me than I thought.

I was raised in an abusive home, and Star Trek TNG was one of my few escapes. I remember wanting to be like Captain Picard when I grew up. Confident, kind, direct, capable, and loving.

I don't know if I'm there yet. But I'm trying.

I already miss you. So very much.

Would you mind sharing what he meant/means to you? I think reading your words will help.

If your online persona is indicative of your real life persona, then you've pretty much nailed his screen persona. 🤪

You seem kind, strong (you made it through a bad burn, with the love, support and nursing of a wonderful wife!), you keep pursuing your hobbies and dreams, and rescue your damsel when she's distressed. That may not be larger than life, but it is real life, and that's better. When the masks melt away, or if they're lovely masks, become the face.

TNG was after I moved out, but I really liked it a lot. I liked Captain Picard, but felt more drawn to Data, as he developed and worked through complicated human issues. In the original show, I was drawn to Mr. Spock, because he represented emotional equilibrium that was never present in my nuclear family. I guess Troi was closest to my heart, because it was my grams that loved, nurtured, soothed, accepted. When they buried her, they buried the best part of my heart.
