[–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 32 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (12 children) Oh well. What's the next e-mail platform to try before it enshitiffies? Thinking of going back to postal mail. permalink fedilink source hideshow 12 child comments replies: [–] chickenf622@sh.itjust.works 22 points 1 week ago (10 children) Tuta is pretty decent I use them only for email/calendar so if they go to shit it's easier to jump ship. Gotta look into an alt password manager since I don't trust a vibe coded app to be secure with my passwords. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 10 child comments replies: [–] schipelblorp@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 week ago I just recently deleted my entries in my commercial password manager for all my email addresses. I've written those down. Between vibe coding and vibe hacking, the internet is going to be chaotic for a few years... certainly at least until the Butlerian Jihad comes for shitheel CEOs like this. permalink fedilink source parent [–] ryper@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 week ago Here's a discussion on Tuta's github to you might want to check out. I guess they're anti-AI for marketing purposes, but fine with their own devs committing AI-assisted code. permalink fedilink source parent [–] AmbitiousProcess@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago (3 children) Seconded on Tuta. I'm currently pretty locked into the Proton ecosystem, but I have a Tuta account as well, and it's pretty usable if all you really care about is having an email that works. (haven't used their calendar yet, so I can't speak to it) Definitely less feature-rich than Proton though. Worse spam filter, more basic UI, no auto-categorization of email by topic, etc. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 3 child comments replies: [–] Seralth@piefed.seralth.com 3 points 1 week ago It's also less safe than proton from a legal from being German tho. So a major step down if that's what you care about. permalink fedilink source parent [–] marighost@piefed.social 3 points 1 week ago I'm in your boat. I really rely on their VPN for my media server, especially need a VPN with port forwarding. permalink fedilink source parent [–] sem@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago The thing i really don't like about tuta is the android app will just not send any notifications sometimes until you open it. permalink fedilink source parent [–] orclev@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 child) I've been very happy with Bitwarden for password management. Their hosted service is pretty good and if you want to retain complete control you can self host. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] milbyte11@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 week ago currently still using bitwarden but recently there's been signs that the app might go full closed source in the upcoming years, and then start adding god knows what. i'd keep a backup of your passwords somewhere and be ready to move somewhere else if need be. https://community.bitwarden.com/t/published-version-update-in-app-stores/102750 permalink fedilink source parent [–] anttifantti@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 week ago I use pass which requires a bit of a set up but has been working flawlessly so far. permalink fedilink source parent [–] wax@feddit.nu 1 point 1 week ago Keepassxc + syncthing (or another file sync service) is a winner permalink fedilink source parent [–] beejjorgensen@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 1 week ago With E2EE: Tuta Mailfence Startmail Without: Posteo Mailbox Fastmail Disclaimer: I haven't actually tried any of these except Tuta. permalink fedilink source parent
