Fast trains would be a good idea, something that makes it viable for at least the first couple stops to get into Perth or Albany (each way) within an hour. Then those towns could have an added benefit of becoming commuter towns, sustainably reinflates the populations and community spirit of those towns while easing housing pressures in the cities.
