Military "experts" (Chatham House, ex-top brass, etc) have said 2029 for war for a number of years. It's been arranged with the enemy after tiffin on the Riviera.

The Guardian produced this many months ago! Recommended 72-Hour Survival Checklist • Bottled Water: At least nine litres of water per person (roughly three litres per day for drinking, with extra recommended for cooking and washing). • Non-Perishable Food: Tinned meat, fish, or vegetables, as well as dried fruit and nuts that do not require heating or boiling water. • Battery-Powered or Wind-Up FM Radio: To receive emergency broadcasts and updates. • Torch and Extra Batteries: For lighting if power fails. • Charged Power Bank: To keep mobile devices and communication tools charged. • First Aid Kit: Including waterproof plasters, bandages, antiseptic, a thermometer, and regular personal medications. • Sanitisation Supplies: Hand sanitiser and wet wipes. • Warmth and Shelter: Blankets and extra warm clothing. • Cash: Physical money in case electronic payment systems or card networks collapse. • Important Documents: Printed copies of passports, birth certificates, insurance policies, and emergency contact or medical instructions. Baby and Pet Supplies: Dedicated food, water, and care items if you have infants or pets in the household.

I'll probably got all that ready by 2029. Might even afford some iodine for radioactivity - as suggested by James O'Brien on LBC this morning. I don't want a dodgy tummy after the bomb's gone off.

I don't know anyone who has said that they expect war explicitly start in 2029. That seems sort of arbitrary really, conflict in Ukraine is going badly now I can't see why it would be different in three years.

Why then do they all invariably give such a definite date rather than something like "next five years" or "next decade" or even other dates like "2028/2030/2031/2032"? Somewhere a decision has been made about this date. (Historically, we know that World War One, for instance, was actively planned and prepared for for a number of years before it happened.)
