Only tangentially related, but I went to an Ashley Gavin show this past weekend on a first date with a woman who told me she’s questioning if she’s asexual or not (I am not ace myself), and our chemistry was off the charts and we’re going on a second date next week, and I just think that’s neat and aces are neat :3

That's pretty cool. How do you think you would handle the difference in sexuality if you were in a relationship with someone and you would like to have sex and she isn't interested in such activities? Just curious. 😊

I’ve actually been in love with someone who is ace before, and I just feel like, for me emotional compatibility comes first. If there was never any sex, I know how to take care of my needs all on my own, but emotional compatibility is so much harder to find than sexual satisfaction.

I mean, sure, jerking off is okay (but oh how much more boring than to make love to your wife though), but for me, connecting physically is a big part of the relationship as well. I'm not sure I could handle no sexual intimacy, if I'm being completely honest. 😅

But you know what, I think it's so freaking awesome that it isn't a big deal for other people. Shout out to compatibility! 🫶😊

My partner is ace. We get along great. It's a lot of effort but I would t have it any other way.

What's your libido like then? High, medium, low? What do you do when your needs are boiling over and need to be met? Do you kind of sneak away to a corner like a sick animal to take care of it, or are you allowed some "ceremony", semi-openly? Will your ace partner perhaps participate in some non-sexual way, even?

Sorry if I'm inquisitive, this is just very interesting to me as a high-libido person. 😅

When we met I had a pretty high libido.

My ace partner does not participate in anything, but I am afforded respect when taking care of myself.

Boiling over is a bit rough, but we are clear about acceptable outlets and boundaries. So the usual "make sure you communicate" part is important.

I think the important part is I really just love my partner so much that I tend not to notice the lack of sex.

Very interesting. Thank you for sharing!

My perspective is something like: I love my wife so much that it drives me crazy when I can't make love to her for a long time for whatever reason. 😅🔥 The same passion is there as it was a decade ago. 🫣
