It's not pointless you just have to be creative. IR LEDs are cheap and their light is invisible to us but enough light can flood out a camera feed. You can get/build a cheap device that detects these devices' BLE signatures and further automate from there. (E.g. : use that data to populate a map, then use the map to inform other strategies/hide yourself within a certain range.)

There's gotta be other turnkey stuff that walks the line of being offensive while not being conspicuous or doing permanent (physical) damage, I just haven't come across it yet or it is coming.
