This is my problem with the alt media particularly, they only traipse around after the general news narrative. If you want to actually get ahead of it and learn about Kenya, SAfrica, Nigeria, Argentina, Myanmar, Indonesia, etc in depth they will not help you at all. A friend compared it to small business owners painting themselves as opposition to big corporations when they just sit on the sidelines waiting to side with capital if it wins It would be nice if they actually helped regions without real opposition media groups instead of trying to be the backup MSM that points out hypocrisy in opinion pieces permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 2 child comments replies: [–] Maeve@kbin.earth 3 points 1 year ago (1 child) I hear you. A lot of fill in the blanks media that leaves the general public to political madlibs style imaginings. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] tastemyglaive@lemmy.ml [S] 2 points 1 year ago Yeah just launching an outlet won't do anything either we need to create a real crowd-controlled distribution system parallel to social media.
