@hperrin@lemmy.ca Wow, how surreal! I wonder if any of the local cameras caught the balloon descent and tight landing on video. You are really lucky. I'm glad the balloon and passengers made it out of there unharmed. You had a nice block party gathered around at the end there.

Edit: This balloon made a similar emergency landing in 2019

    One of the neighbors caught the approach. You can’t see the landing, but you can see them coming in.

    Oh, thank you! I tracked it down further and found your neighbor's Facebook post.

    There really wasn't any wind at all and they were low on fuel, so I'm impressed the pilot found a place to land. To make the jump, the crew had to refuel the burner and pull the balloon around your house with those ropes.

    I wonder if you could talk the balloon company into a free balloon trip for your trouble. Your house ended up on national news, after all.

    I've only seen an airship landing that close once, and that's because I knew when and where to see it.
