One of my friends is going through a divorce and one of the reasons his wife gave us is that he would sit in his car in the driveway and look at his phone for a bit when he got home. There are other reasons but that one stuck out to me.

Yeah. That's my personal indicator that there's something wrong with my work setup; avoiding doing the thing that leads to the unpleasant parts. I guarantee he started hiding in his car after the relationship issues began.

Think there's some nuance needed. Occasionally ppl need some some time to decompress. Im positive a lot of ppl sit in their car after work to avoid their spouse but others just want sometime to themselves. Ive done that being single and having roommates i actually like. Plus sometimes I was too lazy to get out of the car

Yeah, I get it. When I get home I don't want to talk to ANYONE I don't care if I like them or not. Just need a fucking minute to myself to decompress and switch gears. I can't speak much to his situation but knowing her and seeing how she greeted him at the door with shit when I was over there on more than one occasion I could see why he'd want to take a second before walking into that.
