I can't wait for all the leftists on here to tell us why we shouldn't vote for democrats.

Tell me if this sounds familiar.

    • Demand a leftist candidate.

    • A centralist candidate wins the nomination.

    • Vote for lesser of two evils.

    • Lose election because they were unpopular

    • Blame leftists

Maybe Democrats could try doing better.

It's like you're trying to do the breast stroke during a hurdles match. The system is broken and only two parties are viable. Who you vote for president won't change that, but could have had one genocide instead of two plus all the internal strife. Fix the two-party problem, then demand better of your presidential candidates. The alternative has only worked about 3 times in the history of the United States.

    Fix the two-party problem

By voting only for congressional candidates who support alternatives to FPTP?

This is probably something that would have to be fixed at the state level before going federal. Either way, until FPTP is replaced, pretending that isn't the system in place isn't going to change it.

So if you're in Maine or Alaska, then it's already time to demand it federally from candidates?

It's time for other states to look at it, for groups in those states to use Alaska and Maine as working examples of the benefits, and for Alaska and Maine to start working on an Amendment to change how the president is elected.

But none of that changes the fact that how or if you vote for president will have any bearing on the voting system or cause it to change.

We could have had Clinton and Harris and we'd be in a way better place right now but I keep hearing bitching about the democratic nominees from people with no intention of organizing a party or candidate let alone even vote.

no intention of organizing a party or candidate

What do you want me to do? Vote third party in the Presidential election? Won't I be wasting my vote?

    let alone even vote.

Run a popular platform then. Clinton and Harris were status quo candidates. Clinton was a continuation of Obama. Harris was a continuation of Biden. They lost because they didn't run a good campaign. They lost because they didn't change tactics to address Trump.

Biden was one of the best presidents since Jimmy Carter though I’d love to have his policies continued.

Biden deliberately appointed a Republican AG who let Trump walk, and thereby brought about the destruction of the country. That, by itself, is immediately disqualifying for being a good president, regardless of whatever else he did.

He's going to be remembered on par with James Buchanan, at best.

Honestly, Biden did a very good job picking up the pieces after Trump. But ultimately he was returning to a status quo that didn't (couldn't?) address the problems with late stage capitalism. I don't blame Biden, I blame that lack of choice in our Democracy.

The American voter turned around and gave Trump his biggest win ever after that so they’re down with this shit.

Oh well that totally makes it fine for Biden's AG to slow walk the investigation AND let Trump pick the judge

Even if Trump was convicted and imprisoned he still would have been able to run for president and get out of jail for his term.

America watched what he did and didn’t care.

There were things he did which could have disqualified him from office, which also weren't investigated, and still doesn't absolve slow walking everything.

America watched what he did and didn’t care.

No shit considering the education level of the country, number that flat out don't know what he did because of the propaganda networks in the country, and the dems campaign strategy of ignore everything bad, that's not happening

When your entire platform is we are not trump, then proceeding to be exactly like him, is a turn off to people.

The people don't want a phony Democrat. If it's a choice between a genuine Republican, and a Republican in Democratic clothing, the people will choose the genuine article, every time; that is, they will take a Republican before they will a phony Democrat,

We wouldn't be headed to a better existence with Harris. She was barely to the left of trump, her entire campaign ran like a first-term Trump Republican.

We've been right in every instance, but the issue is we are always right too early.

During Biden's presidency he nor Democrats could do no wrong in this community, and a comment like yours would have had a hundred upvotes. Fast forward to Biden being out of office and the general consensus is Democrats are worthless, spineless, and betrayed us. The general consensus is what leftists were saying all along.

That's another failing of voters, never demanding better. Willing to accept whatever neoliberal they let the party throw at them.

You're absolutely not wrong. And these people that constantly counter anything less progressive than their perfect idea of progressive give me vibes of "spoiling the opposition from both sides" and feel astroturfed a lot of times.

But that said, we fucking need progressive policies and candidates. I myself polished the Overton Window for far too long as discourse kept harming more and more people. We need politicians working passionately for the people and against corporate power. We need to fight for progress and fight even harder against fascism. And we need to convince people along the way. No more status quo. But I'll be damned if I'll let perfection stand in the way of improvement.

Democrats? You mean right-wing PR team! The ones you vote in to "fix things" after the repubs does everything the D's also secretly want but can't say outloud and only does it surface level until the repubs can get in power again to ratchet ever further to the right

Vote BlueMAGA if you want, but you're still MAGA if you vote for them

Biden still didn't earn our votes so we need to refuse to vote until the democrats learn their lesson!!!

Err, Biden isn't running? Really? Are you sure? Oh, shit, it's Kamala?

Yo dog, that bitch has an ugly smile so fuck her. Besides, she isn't a man so why would you vote for her at all? Oh shit, is that on? I mean, she is so unlikeable that she can't win so you might as well just stay home until the democrats learn their lesson.

(fast forward a few years... hopefully)

AOC? She would do so much better in the Senate so don't vote for her. Newsom? He is a transphobe. Err, he is too much of a transphobe for people who don't like that and not enough of a transphobe for people who do. Novelty american flags for the rest of the people who don't vote.

Bee tee dubs, have you seen these tiktoks out of china and russia? Now THAT is how you run a country.
