Nobody here allowed to say anything good about this. Yall hate on AI like it’s your job.

EDIT: pay attention to all the downvotes. It shows how many people feel personally attacked by the comment, and thus proving my point

All the other comments on this post are positive. What are you complaining about?

AI pattern matching to be used for searching is a thing that existed before the current LLM and image generation shitfest that we complain about using 'AI' since that is the common shorthand used by media and shills.

A search that returns unaltered search results is very different from an 'AI summary' that is full of errors.

    Um...

The Redditor, nicko170, said they had a large language model transcribe, collate, and summarize the documents and built the database to make the files more easily searchable.

I think there is some nuance that you are missing.

This is still part of a search process that makes the files more easily searchable. The end result is still searching the documents to find where in the documents something is. The summary in that case is to help confirm what you are looking for is in those results. The summary is not the end result.

That is very different than presenting the summary as the end result, which is the LLM AI hype train from OpenAI and similar companies.

The same tools can be used in multiple ways, some are positive and some are not. Like how an axe can be used to chop down a tree or murder someone.

Bonus points for failing to discern the source of nearly everyone's dislike of AI - rampant theft of independent artists' work to produce drek art which profits random wankers, its use to replace humans and dispossess them of their jobs via obsolescence, etc. This guy siccs AI on a project of a kind that's arguably its best intended use (for a laudable purpose), and people approve, but all you can say is that people are hypocrites for having criticized AI's most common, shitty uses.

The hallucinations are another important source of dislike. You ask the agent questions and then it gives confidently incorrect answers.

Also, it'd be really upsetting if this guy's vibe-coded database had a bug that caused data loss.

"You don't write at a 5th grade reading level, you clearly used AI to criticize me." What are you, allergic to dictionaries? I try to use the words which best define what I'm describing, there's no need for AI.
