Of course, it's everyone's own decision what they do with their free time and it is not my place to judge anyone, but you could at least give a good idea a chance, right?

PieFed.ca and Lemmy.ca are targeted for Canadian people, it's in the name, the logos, everything. Using that as a default recommendation would bring a lot of non Canadians to those instances, which would dilute the sense of community those instances have, and would be met with hesitation by potential new joiners "I'm not Canadian, why would I join here, isn't there a more generic instance"?
I would avoid it
As far as I know, there's no alternative for a reliable EU hosted Piefed reliable instance, so until one shows up, I'm going to stick to piefed.zip
