Finishing up the work day but will take a closer look soon permalink fedilink source parent [–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago I just downloaded the 23G file or whatever. If there is a way to checksum portions of it and run a script against the online checksum to detect differences, that might be one way. The only problem is that it is now being modified for political purposes. This version might be the best we will ever get. I almost wish we could download a pre-2020 version. It would eliminate both the slop and any influence that came after the sudden wealth gap increase that occurred during the pandemic. permalink fedilink source parent [–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 1 year ago (3 children) That is cool WSL accomodates graphical apps, but after the recall Windows feature that snapshots everything, I'm about to remove Windows from my last computer that still has it. I really just need to figure out if my Steam save files will transfer to Linux since my Elden Ring character is level 220 or something crazy. I can't even use WSL at work any longer because security locked us out of admin permissions. I have not even tried Proton yet. Maybe it is because they are supported on Linux. I can not remember though. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment load more comments (1 reply) [–] hakobo@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago There's an article here on how to utilize Wikipedia offline, and you can look under the "Where do I get the dumps?" section for links to downloads. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_download permalink fedilink source parent [–] Evotech@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago (1 child) https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Database_download permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] ScoffingLizard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 year ago Cool.
