This one fucked up my user CSS for right-click context menus

Why is this only available throughplay store on their site?
1.org looks like a privacy nightmare:
We and our 1008 partners store and access personal data, like browsing data or unique identifiers, on your device.
Requests from the community for a classic menu style have been heard, and an implementation that can be maintained comfortably going forward is being investigated. No timeline yet, but it’s on the radar.
Wow! I wasn't expecting that, I figured that would be out of scope for Waterfox on Android.
Ok, how does 1.org actually work? Is it like Ecosia where you have to click on ads (and maybe even buy stuff on advertised sites) to actually contribute? Ecosia has this info buried somewhere on their site but I could not find anything here (could not be bothered to watch the YT video).
I think they were sold to an ad network.
What happened with startpage?
By default, ironfox is stricter in privacy. If has better fingerprinting protection I believe. But it is incredibly slow. From my experience, waterfox is miles ahead in terms of performance.
Today marks 15 years of Waterfox!
Fifteen years ago today, I posted a thread on the Overclock.net forums. I was sixteen, I had an HP Compaq TC4400 that I’d convinced my parents would “improve my school work”, and I was frustrated that Firefox didn’t have an official 64-bit build. So I compiled one myself, called it Waterfox, stuck it on SourceForge and went back to my A levels.
…
I seem to be missing an actual link?
The other browsers are still stuck using Safari web view as an engine and they don’t allow extensions.
You can install other browsers into iOS now btw, just straight from the app store.
But I don't think any of the Firefox forks are on it
Im starting to use it. dipping my toe in.
Same here. It's what I want Firefox to be, so it's my new default now.
I'm a very happy waterfox user and hope the project will continue for a long time to come.
Yeah, that's why I really didn't want to lose faith in Mozilla for a long time. If Gecko and SpiderMonkey stop being developed, then "web standards" suddenly just means "how Google thinks the web should work."
I’m not a Firefox or Waterfox user currently (most of my work is done on phone or iPad where the apps are locked to Safari’s web view sadly), but that’s the beauty of open source. Chromium, and thus Google, controls the web. We need other engines to have sway, as well. Hopefully, Waterfox will keep people loyal to Gecko or whatever their engine is now.
Nice! Its my favorite browser on desktop.
I haven't used IronFox so I'm not sure. Have you used WaterFox?
I like it, it's exactly what I wanted. Like you said, just "showing me the web." I might try one of the other forks with a more experimental UI at some point, but for now, I'm happy with a pretty vanilla browser. For me, Waterfox is basically the same as Firefox, except I don't have to disable some new AI feature every time Mozilla adds one.
I don't use many browser plugins. Just these:
- uBlock Origin
- Wallabagger (page bookmarking)
- Vimium (keyboard navigation)
and they work with no problems. I did have to stop using Video Download Helper and KeepassXC, but that's not because of Waterfox, it's because I'm using Waterfox as a flatpak. I'm going back and forth on whether I like having my browser be a flatpak. Not being able to use Video Download Helper or the KeepassXC plugin is definitely a downside. I still open Firefox (non flatpak) occasionally because of that.
Oh, and I love that syncs your open tabs between desktop and mobile. The other Firefox forks don't seem to have that.
Working fine for me. I don't notice much of a difference from Firefox, though I'm not exactly a power user (uBlock and Bitwarden are my only addons). And it still allows me to customize the toolbars to get rid of a bunch of things.
Mainly just hoping Mozilla can continue supporting Gecko so I don't have to find something else.
I like the options to customize it, but there's an issue with the current build's version of Firefox, as some deep-links (that open apps) don't work properly. This causes Obsidian Web Clipper to not work at all. I had actually reported it on the main Firefox bug tracker, and it was later fixed in another build, but Waterfox still haven't upgraded that yet. I switched to IronFox, although there's no option to change the browser theme. I also would like if the address bar button could be customized, since it's different in Waterfox. I'm even considering making a fork of IronFox just to add those, I know there's an existing for that adds OLED theme to it, I could base on it.
I've been using IronFox and like it, how does it compare to WaterFox?
I like it still. Sometime last year, firefox was feeling clunky and less intuitive, and while that was the most important thing, I was also reading about Mozilla policy changes I wasn't into.
Switched to Waterfox, installed my addons, and felt like I was using old firefox again. No problems so far.
