This is a play-by-post async game that will be played on Gamers Plane site. If you'd rather not register there before you know for sure that you are invited, feel free to send your applications here in the thread or in lemmy PMs. The full ad: ● Pitch. The daylight streets of Montréal are abuzz with life in the summer. Both the locals and the hordes of tourists flood the myriad of festivals and concerts taking place in the city. At night a different kind of sound is reverberating throughout the dark alleyways, abandoned churches and deep catacombs underneath the kine feet. A noise that is unperceivable, but is heard, felt. In the beating of the drums, the harmony of the revenant's choir, in the intense and passionate recitals of the passages from the book before communal ritae. A sickening, corrupting voice that gets harder and harder to resist. A whisper that breaks the weak and wears down the strong who can withstand its unseen influence. Of evil, of disease, of discord. An ancient song that affects the land, throngs of mortals and Cainite alike. Hum.

● Overview. "Hum" is a Sabbat chronicle taking place in Montréal, Canada, also known as City of Black Miracles, using Revised/V20 rules. This is an open world / sandbox style game, which makes it a great fit for players who enjoy creating their own scenes and events, and taking an active role in moving the story along, rather than follow direction in a more defined plotline. While the ultimate course of action will be up to the players, the game is not intended to be a fighting simulator. I'm also not a strict adherent of RAW philosophy, so if you're looking for a by-the-book combat extravaganza - this is not it. The basic premise is that the characters arrive in Montréal to attend Litany of Blood (a great Sabbat conference / remembrance ceremony), separately, and form the pack during the game. The main themes are those of Search - whether inner - for something like clarity, meaning, sanity; or outer - for a person, safety, a place to belong or the next victim; and Faith - the universal power that permeates the island of Montréal and its surroundings. The mood is one of melancholy, pressing paranoia and choleric anxiety, uncertainty, change and chaos - something is about to give in, to shift, to emerge and every Cainite in the city can sense it. The setting is modern, the game taking place in early 2000s, around 2006 or so. I don't use AI for anything, but there are a few generated images left in my art folder, which might (but unlikely) to surface as NPC portraits. I would prefer players not use generative AI at all, but making an avatar or two for you character would not be a deal breaker.

● Applications. First I'd like to know a little bit about your character concept. What are they about, what is their personality like? Next, I'd like to know what you want from a game like this. Which story points and themes are exciting to you and which you could do without? The idea here is to gather a group of players AND characters who are compatible with both each other and myself, to ensure our collective satisfaction and longevity of the game. You can either leave your concepts here in the thread (please make them private notes if there are any nsfw themes present) or send them via PM. All the usual Sabbat Clans and Bloodlines are up, including Ahrimanes, but excluding Harbingers (as they are mostly Elders) and Tremere (mostly dead). Everything else is a tentative maybe, except perished Dark Ages lines like Lamia and Noiad, which are out. Age wise you can pick anything in the "fresh shovelhead - young ancilla" range, up to 100 years of undeath. More metaplot involved concepts are allowed (and even cautiously encouraged), provided they make sense and don't dip too much into deep lore / other splats.

● Adult themes. "Montréal by Night", the book upon which this chronicle is based, was one of the few books originally published under "Black Dog" imprint by WW, denoting adult contents. As such, you can expect to potentially encounter a whole gamut of explicit themes and topics, like gore, swearing, body horror and sex. If you can imagine something horrible, it has probably happened in this version of Montréal somewhere. It's important to note, however, that this is not a fetish, erp or a wish fulfillment game. The awful things that Sabbat vampires do is simply their way of coping with the horror of their unnatural condition, a lens through which you can roleplay and experience the vampiric condition anew. While we will discuss boundaries during "Session 0", the game is likely to be graphic in nature. Should any situation arise, we'll address it and try to find a way forward, altering, changing or adjusting content as needed, rather than defaulting to any set safety tools, like "X-Cards" or "Lines & Veils". At the end of the day player's comfort and safety comes first, but it is also important to understand what kind of game you'll be joining. Forewarned is forearmed, as they say.

● Post frequency. Varied. A combat scene might necessitate a faster rate of short messages to keep the action going, while a protracted philosophical discussion with adherent of different Path can be settled in a couple sizable posts. To set some minimal number up, looking for at least 2 to 3 meaningful in-game posts a week.

● Dying, PVP and loss of control. Dying is technically a possibility, but I make it no goal of mine to try and kill the players. Should you enter a situation where Final Death is an actual possibility, I'll make sure to warn you beforehand. This is NOT a PVP game. While arguments leading to physical resolutions, or even Monomancy, are fine, should they organically arise, going into this with a hostile mindset is not. The banhammer will be landing swiftly if it becomes apparent that you're just here to screw with the other players. Complete loss of control or autonomy over your character will never happen without your explicit consent, such as NPC's use Dominate. More subtle alterations, like emotional changes brought on by Presence discipline or Vinculum bonds are expected to be roleplayed, but will also be discussed prior to going into effect. Players are expected to extend each other the same courtesy.

● Amount of players and experience level. Looking for at least 4 people, with a tentative maximum of 6. While deep understanding of the rules or setting is not necessary, some familiarity with the basics of both (like having V20 core near or reading through free Revised quickstart) is required.

Hello! I am looking for more players for a weekday game, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday starting around 7:00 - 9:00 PM CET and lasting around 3 hours with a break part way through.

I am liking the idea of running savage worlds which presents itself as "fast, furious, fun" but I have a variety of systems that I'm comfortable running. (No D&D, Path/Starfinder)

You build characters by selecting attributes, skills, and feats. To accomplish something you roll a dice (1d4 - 1d12) based on the appropriate skill trying to get a 4 or higher, if you get 8,12 (etc.) You are able to critically succeed. All dice explode, meaning if you roll the highest number on a dice (a 4 on a 1d4, 6 on a 1d6, etc.) you reroll and add it the previous roll(s).

I plan to use the setting book "Vermilium" which is dark fantasy + western + post-post apocalypse (the image touchstones include: Tri-gun, Outlaw Star, Steel Ball Run, Cowboys & Aliens, El Topo, Wild Wild West, and the Pathfinder setting Alkenstar).

I have been running TTRPG games for fediverse folks for a few years now and have previously run (Cyberpunk Red, Shadowrun 5e, Lancer, The Burning Wheel, Pathfinder 2e, Shadowdark, Ars Magica, Masks, Delta Green, Mothership)

I have previous experience with the above as well as D&D 5e, Blades in the Dark, Monster of the Week, ICONS, Starfinder and Vampire the Masquerade 5e.

I tend to run according to the rules more than homebrew, am more merciful than antagonistic, rely on prep more than improv, faction over disparate NPCs, lower amounts of explicit violence/gore, complex encounters, slow burn terror over horror.

We use Discord for voice & session scheduling and Roll20 for the virtual table top, it is a dedicated discord server and I'm happy to help folks with roll20.

I will provide all the rules needed and we will have a session 0.5 where we go over some of the safety tools I like to use (X-Card & Lines and Veils), make characters and with whatever remaining time we will jump into the game.

I have a hard line with Romance/Sexual content, and Young Children. There are veils for Extreme Violence, Torture, Adolescent Children and Player vs Player.

Feel free to respond here or DM me.

Thanks for reading and let me know if you are interested.

I shall probably wear my light overcoat, checking it at the Union Station in Washington, where I shall also check the book which is to beguile my hours of idleness — “Moby Dick, or the White Whale”, by Herman Melville.

—H.P. Lovecraft, Letter to Lillian Clark, 11 April 1925: four months before plotting “The Call of Cthulhu”

Note: Currently this game plays on Saturdays 13:00 EST, but we may be able to change to accommodate new players. Despite the listing, there is no concrete start date for this campaign as of yet.

Hello! This is a long-term offer to join our online group, which includes myself, Jude, and three other players, Caleb, Ed, and Stant. We are primarily interested in narrative RPGs, but of course enjoy the game aspect of TTRPGs well enough as well, and aren't people who ignore the rules without good reason. We have played together for a few years now, but are needing more players due to a couple departing for out-of-game reasons. We play a variety of systems, such as (obviously) Call of Cthulhu, but we have also played Cyberpunk RED, Traveller, Savage Worlds, Alien RPG, Morkborg, D&D, and a handful of others. We are always interested in trying out new stuff.

In our time playing TTRPGs online, we have found out that there are a LOT of crazy people in this community. To avoid these people, we have a lengthier than average application process. I myself had to fill out an application similar to this to join the group back in 2019, and it has been mostly effective. To apply, make a copy of this document (https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BAGaPf8mEvIAqRUp2dEBtTKPm8Xfw3APWQUl1QSDVhM/edit?usp=sharing). DM it filled out to me over Discord, to "sigamber".

As for the campaign itself, we will be playing the (as of time of writing) yet-unpublished Call of Cthulhu campaign White Leviathan, which asks the simple question of "What if Moby Dick was a CoC campaign?" It is a roleplay-heavy campaign, and will test your skills not only in the usual TTRPG manner, but also in your ability to really learn and embody mid-19th century whaling culture, speech, and shipboard life.

As a part of the application and integration process, once (if) your application is accepted, we will play one or two short 'one shot' games with you to get a feeling for your style and compatibility with the group before jumping into the full campaign. Important note: As we often play heavy-topic horror games and scenarios that take place during other periods of history, many potentially sensitive issues may arise. We have players from all sides of the political spectrum, but do not bring anything to the table.

Hello! I have been running TTRPG games for lemmy folks for a few years now and we are moving into our next system, Mothership. I have previously run (Cyberpunk Red, Shadowrun 5e, Lancer, The Burning Wheel, Pathfinder 2e, Shadowdark, Ars Magica, Masks, Delta Green, Mothership 1shots) for folks from here.

I have previous experience with D&D 5e, Blades in the Dark, Monster of the Week, ICONS, and Vampire the Masquerade 5e. I tend to run according to the rules more than homebrew, am more merciful than antagonistic, rely on prep more than improv, faction over disparate NPCs, lower amounts of explicit violence/gore, complex encounters, slow burn terror over horror.

The campaign themes are expected to touch on Body Horror, Capitalistic Horror, and Monster Horror.

We play weekly for about 3 hours starting at around 20:00 CET/14:00 EST on Thursday.

There are two to three returning players and I'm looking for another player or two. We usually run if there are 3 players.

We use Discord for voice & session scheduling and Roll20 for the virtual table top, it is a dedicated hexbear ttrpg discord server and I'm happy to help folks with roll20.

Mothership is a retro-future lightweight system that leans heavily on survival horror. The image moodboard in the post is one I made to reflect the campaign which I expect to run for about 10-15 sessions but am always happy to extend if the players want to.

The media touchstones I had in mind are: Altered Carbon, The Expanse, Alien, Matrix Reloaded. The players are the crew of a recently decommissioned cargo vessel docking at an outlaw space station on the edge of known space. The station known as Prospero's Dream is home to a handful of factions and has strict Oxygen rationing. The crew will need to find a way to scrape together credits to repair/upgrade their ship so they can get back to Inner Space or save the space station.

I will provide all the rules needed and we will have a session 0.5 where we go over some of the safety tools I like to use (X-Card & Lines and Veils), make the crew and whatever remaining time we will jump into the game on the ship as it approaches Prospero's Dream.

There is a hard line with Romance/Sexual content, and Young Children. There are veils for Extreme Violence, Torture, Adolescent Children and Player vs Player.

Feel free to respond here or DM me, I am looking to start the second week of April.

Thanks for reading!

Me and a couple of RP acquaintances have started a discord server that run a couple of different games. And currently I am looking for player to join in on a game of Wildsea.

Time is not yet set because I would like to see if I can get a group going, but it will be on weekends late afternoon.

Looking for five to six players for a play-by-post game on Role Gate, a software/website/mobile app that has three chats for a game (public, out of character, and in character) and two styles for in-character chat: descriptions and speech (including tone for speech). The game will be FORGE, a Knave-hack, and the setting is the pulp fantasy weird space fantasy Planet Eris.
