The inside of NECs PhotoReader, a rare optional addon for the quite rare PC Engine PrintBooster. Effectively this would have changed the print booster into a scanner. Similar devices existed for professional scanners so an easy make for NEC #RetroGaming

An open electronic device showing a circuit board with components, a connector, and a pen-like exterior. A blue plastic tool is placed next to it, along with a quarter for scale. The background includes wires and additional disassembled parts.

Due to a deal between publisher Virgin Interactive Entertainment and Sega, the console version of Command & Conquer was a Saturn exclusive until 1997. 🤝In 1999 the game then was ported to the Nintendo 64. While lacking multiplayer support this version features updated graphics with 3D models and environments and four new missions, though the FMV cutscenes were removed and replaced with static images, voice acting and sound effects. 🎖️#RetroTrivia #retrogaming #gaming #games #videogames #N64

Does anyone who uses AppleWin emulator know how you flip disks when it asks you to turn to side B on something? I've looked all over the UI, in the help file, and key commands and can't find anything to let me do so. #Retrogaming #Retrocomputing #apple #applewin #emulation

A good share really does make a difference for a YouTube video, normally when I make a video on a #retrogaming device the views tank compared to my videos on #retrocomputing, but because Hackaday shared youtu.be/QMk79fnd0VEit's doing better than either of my last computing videos.

"Now entering standard orbit."I picked up some older digital cameras last year, with a Sony CD Mavica 400 from 2002 being my favourite of them. In addition to nature and urban photography, I use them for taking CRT screen photos. This is a favourite of the ones I've taken so far, from Star Trek: The Rebel Universe, C64 version. A Mike Singleton epic adventure through Star Trek space from 1987. #c64 #startrek #retrocomputing #space #crt #retrogaming

Electrifying Software for Today's PC! (from a 1988 perspective)I know some OldByters and others will get a kick out of seeing this magazine ad for two of my favourite MicroProse games: Gunship and Pirates!Gunship';s C64 version was the first flight sim I ever got to grips with as a kid and was my gateway to a good half decade and change of fierce MicroProse love. Pirates' Amiga version is a particularly special game to me and would have been one of the first open-world games I ever played.#PC #DOS #MicroProse #Flightsim #simulation #retrogaming #retrogames

New arrival 🤩At the time it launched, I could not understand the point of this machine at all - but now yhe A600's size, PCMCIA slot and compatibility with original/ECS titles make it quite handy to have. This one was sold as untested, and it needs some TLC for sure... but it does work!#amiga #retrocomputing #retrogaming

Civilization II was first released in 1996 for the PC and ported to the PS1 in 1999. 💿The game is mostly similar to the first Civilization while the graphics have been changed from top-down to isometric view. 🗺️As in the original, there are two victory types: Conquer every other civilization or build a spaceship and reach Alpha Centauri. The latter is much more difficult because there are a limited number of turns in the game, ending in the year 2020. 🚀#RetroTrivia #retrogaming #gaming

💾 NEW PODCAST 💾 In November we looked at Toonstruck, the FMV point & click adventure game from 1996 featuring none other than Christopher Lloyd (that's "Doc Brown" from Back to the Future!)This was a huge production at the time, with apparently a budget of around 8 million dollar!Sadly the game seems a bit forgotten now, but that's all the more reason for us to take a look at it.dosgameclub.com/toonstruck/#dosGaming #retroGaming #podcast
