Ah yeah I see that lol. That's a really nice photo even though it is gross. It has great detail.

They are so much more gross in bright field

Awe I think they are cute! They have little 'hands' near their head. My YouTube profile picture is a midge fly larvae:

You can't tell me that that little guy doesn't tug on your heart strings.
Oh god midge fly larvae are so gross lol.
Sorry I couldn't help but thanks for sharing your images!
Yeah the feet don't move like a water bear. I see the resemblance from the top down angles. I'm starting to lean towards it being a larvae of some kind.
This is a picture of a midge fly larvae:

My guy definitely isn't that, but it has the segmented body and foot at the back. So maybe mystery dude is some other insect larvae?
The feet look really tiny, too tiny to be a water bear? The body is segmented and it looks like a digestive tube, which are all pro water bear signs.
What a mysterious little friend

I just looked into that a bit I don't think it is a bristle worm. It seems to have a foot to grab onto stuff with. This foot is really throwing me for a loop. Otherwise I would just think it is a worm of some kind.

Thanks anyways!
Edit: These toes really give me rotifer vibes, but the rest of the fella does not give rotifer vibes.

Have you considered if it could be a bristle worm? I haven't seen them under darkfield, so I'm not very confident at all, but the size is right.

Got some HD and UHD stuff? I'd be interested :)
That’s awesome. Like, seriously. Making art out of some of the smallest things on earth is so freaking cool, and something I had not even conceived of.
Microscopy is so fun, no sarcasm. I like getting to see the things we normally overlook (like the things that live in pond water), and seeing what's known in new ways (like strands of hair). Seeing someone else use theirs for art is awesome!
Lol hell yeah. I really like when the little fella would slide along a moss strand. Felt like high speed rail but small.
I loved watching your friend squeeze through little gaps between moss strands. There was a little "shoomp!" sound in my head every time
I'm glad you liked it! It's been fun playing with the editing lately.
So trippy! Awesome footage, thank you!
Awe shoot, thanks so much. It's very much a passion project and I enjoy pretty much every aspect of it. I'm really glad you like the videos so much.
I feel like I'm honing the craft. I hope to keep this up, and I can't wait to see how new microbes with music videos will look in the coming years.
I really appreciate the work you put into making these videos. I love your microscopy, for one thing. You always have excellent contrast and make it really easy to tell who you're shooting without needing a pointer and adding the details like the magnification, speed, and subject give my brain some context to better understand what's happening. Thank you!
Haha I definitely see that. I do like to try and make folks humanize microbes. It's quite fun as an art project. This video wasn't necessarily that, but often it doesn't take much more than just focusing on one subject for a while lol.
I did think it obviously impossible, but what I didn't think impossible is the capacity of humans to anthropomorphize animals to this degree :-)
Fair enough. I thought folks would see the title as obviously impossible, but it's hard to predict that kind of thing.
Very confusing title in that case
For sure!
MS-20 mini
Nice! Thanks!
I follow you on Peertube, thought someone was stealing your vids and putting them up on YT.
Lol! I need a place to share my vids to folks like my mom who have no chance of getting on peertube. I love that you thought the YouTube account was stealing.
What is the name of the instrument you used? Is that the one with an antenna where you move your hands in the air?
It is not a theremin, but I totally see the similarity. It's actually an MS-20 mini which is a remake of a classic 80s synth. I am just using it with the portamento knob turned up. FYI portamento is the fancy music term for sliding between notes.
Lastly, I'm really glad you liked the song and video!!
