A 2026 Gram Laptop seems awfully heavy compared to most modern laptops

What's old is new again

The 2000s called, they want their gimmick back
The list of cons is pretty long. It's kinda expected for Thinkpads, but disappointing that things have not gotten better.
Too bad the entire company is hot garbage
Many businesses are cheap. I still had a 1366 x 768 work laptop in 2016 (although we had a dock with a 1080p monitor at our desks).
only 60 Hz 1080p displays
Of for fucks sake! it’s almost 2026! Why do NEW devices still being released with such heavily outdated low quality displays?
In my review Lunar Lake shows that the camera doesn't work, the audio doesn't work, and the Xe graphics driver is buggy under Arch Linux.
The battery life is pretty dang good though.
“Awkward” seems a stretch. That seems to imply clunky, or designed to be difficult to use with your hands. The author is mostly just complaining about where the latest version fits in the Apple MacBook lineup.
I wish this was available with AMD and not Intel.
Can’t find it in my BIOS. I tried modifying a “screen efficiency” setting, no change. All the other “power management” settings are related to the battery.
Spitballing here, but I had a similar problem with an older Dell. I found an adaptive screen backlight setting hidden in the BIOS setup, but I don't recall what they named it. Evidently this was some hardware bullshit and fiddling with screen brightness settings in the OS didn't impact it in way whatsoever. Disabling it in the BIOS cured it of being annoying.
Update: currently I'm looking into replacing the capacitors.
Happy to help!
Fair enough! Thanks!
They aren't chromebook priced, but I built one last night and it was looking like 1700.oo with modest choices but you could lower that price. Don't forget they are meant to be upgraded so you have that benefit going forward.
Fair enough, I could have been more specific.
My complaint about the one USB-C charging laptop I have purchased is primarily that it doesn't seem to hold a charge for more than an hour of non intensive use. A laptop that charges via that interface and holds the charge would most likely meet my needs.
I will update my search preferences; thank you!
Noted - thanks!
A coworker actually recommended that. I realize I didn't specify a budget, but aren't those pretty expensive?
The things that don't impress me are that the machine is extremely slow and, more importantly, the charge barely lasts an hour of just web browsing. I can deal with slow, though I don't love it, but I strongly desire more than an hour of use. What model is your Dell?
I have an hp elite book and an dell something-big-and-heavy-desktop-replacement that both use type-c charging. The dell needs 150w though. The elite book I just got but I bet I can use a 100w with it.
HP elitebook/ probook.
Yup, T480(s) onwards afaik.
My Dell laptop charges via USB-C. What other needs do you have other than it needing to "impress" you?
+1 to Lenovo, they have a number of models that charge via USB-C/thunderbolt
Might want to take a look at Framework laptops. Very upgradeable and customizable. I don't personally have one, but based on what I see while shopping myself it looks solid IMO. website
