Today is guess day in my blog. Please welcome Ainsley Clark, Go Developer Advocate at @jetbrains founder of the agency ainsley.dev, and the person behind the GoDaily newsletter. Today he follows //go:embed all the way from a comment in your source to bytes in your binary. He also covers the runtime side plus the tradeoffs, like why you should never embed secrets.Read it here: internals-for-interns.com/post#Golang

hi @brendt after your newsletter (by the way congrats on becoming head of the #PHP ecosystem at @jetbrains !) I went to read your blog post about the PHP2SHELL vulnerarbility and your mixed feelings about the backportI agree AND I do upgradeBUT (there always is one), I also work for a company that has some legacy projets and the sole reason they have become legacy is because business, not the devTeam, decided "new features" is better than maintenance and updatesstitcher.io/blog/backwards-ben

This Saturday I'm not working on my next blog post, because this week Internals for Interns has a guest!Ainsley Clark (DevRel at @jetbrains) is joining to explain how something works under the hood, in true Internals for Interns style. The topic: how the //go:embed directive gets your files inside your Go binary. The article will be available this Monday.#Golang

Well @jetbrains, considering the plethora of plugins that disable all the agentic/AI crap in the various JetBrains IDEs, I'll have to disagree.#SoftwareDev #IDEs

Screenshot of an email from JetBrains. It reads in part:
"Hi there,

With the 2026.3 release in November, Air will ship as part of JetBrains IDEs. Air is a new window for the agents and subscriptions you already use. It is not an AI provider, and it ships with no agents installed. If you do not want this experience, you can disable the plugin, and your IDE experience will be unchanged.

Why. Agentic development is becoming the norm, and an IDE that keeps agents at arm's length won't stay relevant. Air helps us shift the center of gravity of IDEs. Learn more here."

At EuroRust 2024, @bravit from @jetbrains took a deep dive into I/O internals: from DMA and blocking I/O to io_uring, explored across devices, OS calls, and Rust code. A great watch if you want to write more efficient Rust! 🦀📺 youtu.be/PBV_AZPbhq4#EuroRust #RustLang

I hear so much flack on how AI is bad and the code useless etc. But i had the need to build an application and i used #ChatGPT to create a specification which i read through and verified and with multiple back and forth, i had a wonderful document which i then used with @jetbrains #Junie #ai #agent to iterate along and build my new app github.com/eitch/Chronivaro. The code is well done and well tested. It took me 24h over two weeks....#java #programming

Interesting bug in JetBrains Youtrack (the original titles have @EventListener)@jetbrains

Fragment of IntelliJ release notes, incorrectly showing "@Roman Platonov":

Full text:
"""
Bug IDEA-391963 Spring: "Inapplicable @Roman Platonov for early application events" inspection misses the classes=/value= attribute form
Bug IDEA-391964 Spring: "Inapplicable @Roman Platonov for early application events" warning text is factually wrong for ApplicationContextInitializedEvent/ApplicationPreparedEvent
Feature IDEA-374141 Spring: show warning for @EventListeners for some application events

Why are the IDEs of @jetbrains becoming worse and worse and worse? Right now I have a window which I cannot close because no menu visible. Cursor is always hidden, have to use the mouse. It is so annoying...

The first "State of PHP survey" is out. If you use PHP, let the PHPFoundation (and Jetbrains) know your thoughts via thephp.foundation/blog/2026/06 . The survey isn't that long if you don't use AI (jumps from 43% to 98% once you encounter it), and does suggest following @jetbrains and @thephpf both on just Xwitter (and sharing only on there) - but you could get 1 of 5 EUR 500 vouchers.
