somewhat sad to read how this veteran of the community seems unable to give further pointers om what is currently defunct (with the coolbook instructions and the resize service). i'd expect them to at least open issues on codeberg or even suggest a pull request

Why are two machine configs needed? Could be in the article but I missed it. Is it because you need to in the time between setup DNS for your new server?

Maybe I'm too smooth brain to understand, but why not just use guix? I could see the use of nix derivations translated to the guix store, but why the other way around?

The goal of this guide is for those who want to use GNU Guix/Hurd without using GNU Guix/Linux or the Guix package manager. I will try to add your info, though. Thanks.

@provectus The easiest option to create a Hurd image with Guix is by running ‘guix system image -t hurd64-qcow2 config.scm’, where ‘config.scm’ contains an OS configuration for the Hurd 👇guix.gnu.org/manual/devel/en/hThis cross-compiles the entire image contents, so you have to restrict yourself to packages that can be cross-built. A good starting point is:codeberg.org/guix/guix/src/bra

Kudos to the author! It’s unusual to see posts like this that are pleasant to read and dive deep into not one but two systems!I have a clearer view of flakes now and how it corresponds (or not) to the things I know better. :-)
