If this sounds familiar, I posted to this community a couple months ago with a shorter one-night camping trip with Menko (the Cat). This time we took her with us on a 7 night, 2000 mile road trip where we had booked 7 different fire lookouts for lodging! Additionally, since I posted last time, I've begun self hosting my very own PeerTube instance, so you'll notice that the link takes you to JoelTube instead of MakerTube! (I also went and updated the URL on my last post to JoelTube)

My 2007 Volvo XC70 that's been fairly heavily modified was our (mostly) trusty steed on this adventure. We needed it the lift and tires on this adventure, as a few of the lookouts required some fairly significant offroading. One of the lookouts does require a short hike, of which Menko completed all on her own, surpassing our greatest expectations! We stop at a river and a lake along the road to cool off. By the end of the trip, Menko would see the fire lookout from the window of the car as we pulled up, and was super excited to climb it.

At time of posting, 4 of the 7 episodes have released. The final 3 will publish each Friday at noon pacific time.

I will also mention that this trip kinda ramped up, by which I mean I think it got really good around episode 3 and 4. If you're looking to dip your toes into the best parts before committing to watching the entire series, I'd start there. I specifically filmed and edited these so they'd stand on their own, so you won't be missing much by starting in the middle.

Thanks for checking it out!

Creator @ewhac@mastodon.social: ""I had this idea a while back when I saw another mashup between Buck Rogers in The 25th Century and Star Trek: Discovery. It was only in the last couple months that I had the time (and energy) to put it together. And yes, I did the voice."

I am the creator, and wanted to share a recent camping trip I went on with my cat in my late Grandpa's 1984 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale (say that three times fast). If self-promotion isn't allowed, of course feel free to remove, but I do not intend to spam. I just want to get my channel out there where I can, as I feel like there isn't a lot of automotive/camping content on PeerTube.

In the video, Menko the Cat and I drive about 300 miles round trip (well, I'm driving, she's just riding), including a fair amount of gravel roads, to get to a campground that I first visited in January when it was snowed in. We have a camp fire and dinner, but it ends up raining, so we hop into the tent early. The next morning, we search for an old fire lookout, before heading up to a different campground to enjoy the views.

A hiphop track with Japanese theme, inc. samurai anime video. I found it via a Mastodon post, and reposted it on Peertube.

(BY-NC-ND 3.0 licence but not sure if that's only for the music or also the video.)
