Where's the plan?

Even the article mentions the details are short of notions of a plan and mainly pushes raising the homestead exemption to unsustainable levels where the state will manage collecting from wealthy counties like MDC Broward and Palm Beach and transfer this into areas where tax collections are lower defunding services where the money is raised.

If Republicans want to do socialism they need to do math first, increasing Homestead exemption will not solve affordability when taxes are 1:3 to insurance.

yeah its actually kinda funny because my wife and I have no kids and we vote for pretty much every school and park expansion/renovation (our town is pretty responsible and none of these are boondogles). Some folks though. Its like I want to live in a society where kids are educated and we have nice public spaces. I do wish more of this was funded on a national level.

Some people choose to live places with less infrastructure and support, and that’s a reasonable choice. But it’s not ok when it affects the education of the next generation. Parents may be the most important voice in raising children, but we as a society have a vested interest in them being well educated, and need our actions to reflect that

I can see that. My brother in law moved way out to the far-suburbs/neo-country. Then he has to send his kids to private school which if he lived in the most expensive burb with the best schools his property tax would be less than his combined with tuition. plus he gets less infrastructure and upkeep of same. we are talking unpaved roads where they throw sand down and barely plow.

same amount of money to run a school no matter where it’s located

Not at all. Some of us live in places with much higher property values/taxes so building the school is much more expensive. We live in high cost of living areas so all employees pay can be significantly more. And yes we may choose to spend more because we value our kids education more.

So I disagree with that contention, but completely agree that yes, paying for schools mostly from property taxes is hugely unfair. We need a “department” of “education” as part of the federal government, setting minimum standards for equity, inclusivity, education levels, and additional support for those who need it. Even better if it could be proactive, set higher standards, override those localities shortchanging our children

Property taxes are a regressive tax that causes lower income areas to charge a higher percentage of income in taxes. It basically costs the same amount of money to run a school no matter where it's located. If those taxes went into a state or national fund instead then they could be alocated more evenly without creating a higher burden on lower income areas.

It was late. I was tired and thought I was clarifying.

He only blew the fentanyl once at an officer.

I will remove the second sentence that says "McAuliffe then blew the fentanyl from the cap “directly into Deputy Qubaisy’s face,” the sheriff’s office said." since it's confusing.

Not saying it would change much, but there has not been a governor of Florida that wasn't Republican since 1999. 2003 they produced 22 billion pounds of Oranges. 2026 they are unsure they can produce 1 billion pounds. That's with technoligical improvements for planting, harvesting, etc. So maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree, but shouldnt the government step in, find a way to mandate getting rid of the diseased trees and the underlying causes and transplant something successful that would be immune if you can't remove the causes, like Italy and France did when they worked with California to transplant all their vineyards because they would all die from root rot until they found out the roots in California were immune, and grafted the grapes onto those roots and rebuilt everything?

What is government for if an industry so large in your location that it is the default license plate is completely dying with "no known cure."

Oranges from Florida have always been sweeter/juicer or whatever than those from California, while Californias are more shelf stable. But the reason you get orange juice made in Florida... Is for that reason. It tastes better. Maybe Florida should be telling the federal government if they want to launch rockets/shuttles from and retrieve them from their shores, they need the federal government to give a fuck about their issues.
