I guess I have a kind of rule to only use software that is the main focus of the developing organisation. I've been burned to many times by Google to rely on any software product from them that appears to be a side interest. Same goes for Microsoft or anytime else, because this type of thing happens. My other role is to always look for a good open source alternative whenever possible which also (usually) avoids this type of "we got bored of supporting this" attitude.

Bullshit title. I've long suspected that their enshitification is by design but this article isn't about that at all.

There's not a single sentence about it being by design. For example I believe that app search was made intentionally bad because it creates more bing hits. But the article doesn't talk about anything like this. Instead it's several paragraphs mentioning layoffs and other failures.

    Pakistan > Microsoft,

Pakistan historically has been able to spectacularly resist world trends, Microsoft has spectacularly not.

Pakistan has been an arms producer and arms market for FAR longer than Microsoft, and thus Pakistan >>>>> Microsoft here no matter how fast Microsoft tries to catch up (it is sloppy, aiding in the Palestinian Genocide? That isn't a war!).

Pakistan has a FARRRRR less toxic internal culture than Microsoft does Pakistan >>>>>>> Microsoft.

Microsoft is also a catastrophe for the environment, especially with AI so Pakistan is also coming out on top there. Pakistan > Microsoft

As a final note, Pakistan produces and ships weapons like a good old arms dealer they are (I live in the really big arms dealer country so I am not being condescending to Pakistan), but the thing is as far as I am aware most of their weapons actually work and are sold to customers with the idea that they will actually be useful to them.

So.. one final time Pakistan >>>>>>>>>>>> Microsoft

When Microsoft starts selling RPGs they will have the upper management go to a test range, fire the RPGs off with some consultants they hired to show them how it works, spend a day feeling like badass men taking social media videos because they are blowing stuff up and then proceed to build RPGs without any further input or consultation with the people that will be using them. The RPGs will come with an advertisement that plays before you are allowed to fire the RPG, you will not be able to skip it for advertisement integrity purposes. Better hope the tank has similar advertisement software connected to their cannon because it is aiming back at you!

    Welcome to the future!

Burn it with fire, there is no reforming this, get your money out of US tech companies and run. The US is about to enter a second great depression.

The US techbro fintech world itself will come to terms with this last, and thus react most selfishly when it all collapses because their denial to understand how gullible and useless their worldviews are that precipitated this will hold their cowardly hearts hostage as they violently feign powerlessness to evolve or understand.

Remember their names, remember they too must live somewhere, and act accordingly.

About mint, not sure if you are memeing, but those who make the decisions are stuck on having a Windows environment. Not my decision to make at all, but I have tried to pitch it in my head. We have some in house software that can possibly be ported. Office looks like it could be provided as a web app. There are a few other applications we seem to be stuck with as well.

Too late. I already dropped your crap for linux months ago. I'm still finding solutions for some of the programs I both can't get on linux and struggle to install with wine or proton, but at least I'm free of microsoft.

Shit on top of shit! You know, they always say, hey, we're trying to make it easier for you. But grandma's like, I'm so confused by all the menus. I mean shit, I like the fact that there's more than one way to skin a cat, but... What you did there Does not justify your existence. Windows is the virus.
