How much USDT has been printed the last few days?

Forgive me if I’m wrong but the Tether printing machines usually go brrtt whenever there is a BTC price drop like this, no?

Sounds to me like somebody got sucked in by tether FUD.

Critique #11: Bitcoin is Being Pumped by Tether

CRITIQUE: Tether is a ponzi-scheme; new units are issued out of thin air and used to buy bitcoin, dramatically and artificially inflating the price of BTC.

REBUTTAL: There is indeed a lot of uncertainty around various details of tether, but there is no serious evidence of unbacked new issuance artificially inflating the price of bitcoin.

I actually want to say I am sorry for saying that. That was uncalled for. It's not so dumb considering the protections for bank accounts and transactions of cash are more stringent than for bitcoin, and you have the bank's back even with a shitty bank.

But the fact of the matter is that if the burglers were seasoned it's less likely that they can be traced as it's easy to move money around.

When I was a kid I often thought about what the future would look like. I did not envision a group of masked goons, being led by a dude on a video call, threatening a pregnant woman to steal unsecured and unrecoverable crypto funds from the digital wallet of a man.

That's some crazy cyberpunk style bullshit right there. That's some serious "right before society fails and all the lights go out" bullshit right there.

But if they'd tried that there would have been safeguards in place: the bank may well have flagged it as suspicious and not transferred the funds, the transfer of the funds would have taken time to go through and would have been cancellable, the account used by the criminals would have someone's real name on it and would assist in the police investigation, etc etc etc
