It’s such a pretty color. I want to see it up close with my own eyes, not just a photo.

The andromeda galaxy would be cool.
Awesome! Closest thing to the Death Star laser in the universe
Hell yeah, it would be really cool to visit! Ice giants are awesome. Neptune would be a more fun with the ridiculously fast winds of 2,100 km/h though (compared to Uranian winds of "just" 900 km/h)
I think a quasar, would probably be one of the most dramatic things to look at.
Not necessarily planets in this hypothetical! And there's lots of funky chemistry and conditions on the different worlds outside our own, even within our own Solar System. Titan, Saturn's largest moon, has an atmosphere thicker than ours + methane oceans! And I don't think anything on Earth can match the wild storms of Neptune, the hellish conditions of Venus, the beautiful rings of Saturn (would make for some sick astrophotography), or the dust storms of Mars.
Or maybe you could venture outside the Solar System, and see other stars, exoplanets, or maybe even more exotic objects, like black holes and neutron stars!
Maybe a comet? That video of Comet 67P from the Rosetta mission looked really cool.
With some other planets and celestial bodies, the photos are often edited or in a spectrum that we can't see with our eyes. So I'm not sure which ones will be nice to experience otherwise. If I had to pick a planet, I'd go with something with rings so I could fly through them
Personally, I would really love to go to Titan. The methane oceans and thick atmosphere seem really interesting!
But many of the other bodies just in our Solar System are super cool too. Venus is a hot destination, I would love to visit Ceres, the queen of the asteroids, and many of the icy moons would be fun to explore too (think Europa, Callisto, Ganymede, Enceladus, Titania, Triton...)
Just for sightseeing? I mean without the capability of doing some tests/gathering samples? None then. Those planets are dead and boring aesthetically. We have visually similar shit on Earth somewhere in deserts/mountains/poles.
I have to wear hi-vis for work. The rest of the time — low-vis.
~12Kyrs ago of course, when it all started to go gonzo.
Could tell us so much about how things started, why, and what the long-term implications were.
12Kyrs ago is the dawn of the Neolithic and Agricultural Revolutions, to be clear. Before that we'd lived as hunter-gather tribe & clan types for around 300Kyrs at least.
I like nord themes: dark blue, pastel green, purple and orange
i like pink/purple/grey, so it's a mix of those.
I wanna see when India crashed into asia many millions of years ago (i forgot when and I'm too lazy to look it up). Might need to do multiple time travel jumps to see a timelaps of the event, but it sounds spectacular to see the Himalayas going up as the continental plates crash and merge.
Stephen King wrote a book about this. His answer was the 1960s. The book is 11/22/63, which is the date of the John F. Kennedy assassination, as in, his main character is ultimately going back not just to prevent it, but to see if Oswald acted alone. But the way he writes about the time period tells me King really just wanted to revisit the decade of his youth. Born in 1948, King would have been 10 in 1958, the year his character travels to, and he would have been about 15 when Kennedy was assassinated. (Highly recommend the book. One of my favourites of his. And it's not horror. It's Americana, nostalgia, with a side of fantasy (the time travel bit).)
So when I say, my gut reaction is the mid-to-late 80s, to early 90s, I guess he and I have a similar idea, but King had way loftier ambitions.
You can always visit Portland.
I would say mid-90s. Life was easier then. No cell phones, just before the internet really started to become a corporate advertising machine.
Also, I like to travel. Being from the US, everyone around the world thought the worst thing about our president was he had an affair.
If they built an entire airport, that must have stayed for quite a while. They might have even brought some friends to help.
Digital: Mostly on the orange end of the spectrum, as I like to reduce exposure to blue light in the evenings.
Clothing: Mostly nondescript blacks, greys, and blues.
The K–Pg extinction event would be quite the show.
Based on your description of the island, it sure sounds like someone not only visited, but stayed for a while
Yeah... Human mind can be brilliant and terrible. :/
Yikes! It's kind of insane how many torture methods we humans have come up with...not very nice at all...
