I wrote this function to do some math, and I got it working, tested it, but now I have to explain it to someone and...Well, that's the difficult part! I knew the input and desired output and built up how to get what I needed but making it explainable is a bit of a challenge...Which is good though, as it's forcing me to double-check my work.(And I am not good at math!)#teaching #math #python #programming

Maybe it's the old saying "The journey is the reward" because fuck yeah. To me just getting the answer handed to me is a shortcut, it's cheating, it's skipping the work that goes into the discovery. It's making a shitty microwave meal for dinner instead of actually cooking with real ingredients.

I don't just want the answer, I want to know how to get the answer. I want to know why the answer is what it is.Maybe this is like that whole idea that in school they don't teach kids to think, they teach them to memorize the answer.

I was using the Python csv library for a script but decided I should dig into the pandas DataFrame stuff instead. It was more complex, and it took me awhile to figure things out, and I had to read a bunch of web pages explaining things. But in the end, I am 100% happy I did it that way.I did not want to ask some AI/LLM for the answers, or to write the code for me.Because for me, the struggle and the journey is part of creating something worthwhile.#NoAI #FuckAI #AI #programming

It’s super cool this place is right down the road from me, even if I’m not really the target demographic.“Co-owner Bryant Wilcox has turned a lifelong passion for gaming into a community hub where collectors, families and casual players all feel welcome.”milwaukeenns.org/2026/02/19/le#mke #milwaukee #gaming

One important thing I need to keep in mind with LibreWolf is that when something does not work I need to check if it works in Firefox. For instance the TrueNAS shell was not working, and I realized that TrueNAS wasn't broken, LibreWolf was just "protecting" me...Which again, is a good thing, but it's sometime a bit too much protection for those of us who know what we are doing.#browsers #firefox #librewolf

I got Waterfox installed and Firefox Sync working with it so that's a big win. I am currently not able to change the sync device name, which is annoying, but not a deal breaker. When I get more time over the holiday break I'll dig in a bit more and see if I can do a full switch from Firefox to Waterfox.#firefox #waterfox #browser

I might be the minority here but I feel like if Firefox shipped with AI shit enabled but a huge "DISABLE AI" button you could press to turn it off... I might be okay with that.If the alternative is (almost) every other browser having AI and no way to turn it off, is a "DISABLE AI" button a win?It would let the people who care disable it. People who don't care could also disable it, we just need to tell them how and why they should. 1/n#firefox #mozilla #noAI

Ha! It does work... I was looking in the wrong folder. 😂 I now have a Python script that can parse GPX files and set the date created/date modified to the time in the file. Had to do a little hack because XML is always confusing, but it's much much better than it was.
