I don't have any kind of experience with electronics, I'm extremely afraid to fuck up anything with my Switch BUT I want the free games. 😭 How come there is no way to exploit the software like it happened with V1? Isn't the modding community invested in claiming another console? Or is the thing that really tough to homebrew without the hardware modding?

I personally believe that both things can be true at the same time. Like, one of my favorite movies of all times is The Blues Brothers and I love that movie so much because it has no other pretense than showing you a good, fun, absurd way to enjoy music. Does it challenge the viewer at any time? Nope. Is it a lot of fun, possibly the most fun you'll ever get from a movie (if you're like me)? Yep.

Honest to god, while I do love Letterboxd, it is a terrible site at doing what it does. Especially its search features. It's comically paradoxical than even something like RateYourMusic, which is 1) old as fuck and 2) not even made for movies, is able to build an arguably larger, more detailed and better chart-adjusted database for flicks than what a dedicated site/app does.

I disagree. Especially because you have to put in context: BotW came out five years before Elden Ring, as an exlcusive bridge title between consoles, and still rocked a degree of interaction with the world (its physics/elemental system and the use of stamina as an advancement barrier) that ER still dreams of. IIRC Miyazaki himself said that the team was heavily inspired by LoZ's work with the formula.

Ulysses. One copy in English, three copies in my native language. It has been historically translated by three different people, and the versions vary wildly from one another (and in one case, even from the source). It's been one of the Joys (haha, get it?) of re-reading it so many times.

I know this is a meme, but the only service I've found that doesn't follow this exact pattern is MUBI. Too bad piracy is way more convenient than that, anyway.

  • Budget option? (feddit.it)

Since my laptop's battery fried out last week, I'm finally considering switching to something that's more solid (and trading portability with a tablet of sorts since my work doesn't include too much computing power), but I don't have the time or the space to assemble a desktop tower at the moment. Here's the reason why I was thinking of a mini PC, at least to buy some components that I could reuse (starting from the whole monitor-keyboard-mouse-HDD shebang) in the future. I'm thinking of something in the 350-400€ range, like the Beelink SER5. Do you all think it's a good option or I can aim for something else? I'm mainly looking for some light gaming, media handling (music and video), the usual.
