Also, in my experience people who dislike AI features are often more tech-savvy in my experience. And tech-savvy people tend to know "hidden" subdomains such as "noai." and how to change the default engine's URL string whereas non-savvy tend to not know that.

So even if the majority would be against these AI features it might make more sense to make AI the default and noai opt-in. Because you'd lose more non-savvy people having no-AI as default than you lose tech-savvy people with having AI as default (I assume).

But you still don't know what they wanted, so the extra thinking time isn't worth anything. (Unless we're comparing to those nut jobs that just text "hey" and then wait without continuing to describe their matter)

Just the other day I was pissed off. My dad missed some deadline to request money from the government. I told him to call them, they might be able to do something anyways. He was like "nah, they'll never do that, why would they have a deadline if they do it after the deadline yadayada"
Then a few days later he told me "oh that gpt thing told me to just try, I might be lucky and they pay out even after the deadline, he was very reassuring, so I'll try calling them!"

Man chatgpt would fucking tell you to try your luck if you're 12 years over the deadline, but god forbid your son tells you the exact same thing and you even consider calling them lol

That's absolutely right, but ignores context. People often use months even when the exact age isn't relevant to the other person.
If I (as someone who doesn't have kids and don't know anything about e.g. what behavior is appropriate at what month at all) ask a friend "how old is she now?", I'd be fine with a "about a year and a half" or "she's getting 1 year old next month" or whatever. I don't need an exact month cause 1 month difference doesn't matter to me in a casual smalltalk/conversation setting. I wouldn't know "oh, that's the month she might start pointing at things" anyways.

Of course I'm aware that parents are probably just used to it, so I'm not mad when someone says it in months. But I'd prefer it in years if I had the choice.

To reuse your analogy, I would say 226/40R19 to my mechanic, but to my mother I'd say I'm buying "big wheels". Cause she doesn't know what exactly 226/40R19 is/means, so "big wheels" conveys the information better to her.

Yeah. I'm no programmer but I've had it often that I couldn't find a solution for a problem myself, said 'fuck it, I'll have to ask the internet', and by writing out what my problem was I figured out the solution so I never even posted the half-written posts lol
