@esoastronomy The "good" news is that, if they put a million satellites in low earth orbit, the inevitable will likely happen and we'll see what it is like to live on a planet with rings consisting of dust and small chunks left over after the satellites start hitting each other.

@ProPublica How about forgiving the creep as a Christian thing and also reporting the creep to the police as a civic-responsibility thing? Like the story about a guy beating a donkey that refuses to move. Some one says "you should reason with the donkey." Reply: "Let's see you get it to move." So, this second guy beats the donkey furiously, then whispers in its ear, and the donkey moves. "I thought you said to reason with it." "Yes, but first you have to get its attention."

@Tutanota Just out of curiosity, if you use your own email client and send GPG/PGP encrypted email, how does an email provider decrypt it?Sometimes encryption is a necessity even if privacy isn't an issue. Example: I've used encryption to send a JAR file to a friend for testing: he had a gmail account and Googledoesn't allow JAR files as email attachments to "protect the user". This hid it fromGoogle's software. It wasn't really secret - the password was in the email's text.

@ProPublica It is even worse - like the musician playing a clarinet that they arrested for "assault", a charge that is not credible. Clarinets can cost thousands of dollars, with levers and springs allowing holes to be opened and closed. You don't want to risk damaging one, so a musician carrying one is not going to start attacking the police, ICE, or anyone else.oregonlive.com/portland/2025/1
