If you're just very slightly techy, it's surprisingly easy to build an allsky camera using a Raspberry Pi and almost any astronomy camera (I use a ZWO ASI676MC). You install the software and add a weatherproof mount (I use one of these). It films the whole sky, and doesn't pan/zoom, but you can watch it live, and it automatically captures timelapses and creates star trail images every night, and is very customizable - it can even log meteors

I agree with everything you say about Burnham and yet... Why did it take him more than 3 seconds to issue a condemnation of masked thugs doing something obviously worse than what got some Just Stop Out protestors sent to prison? Why did we wait days for this?

I looked into this a bit and the main thing to know is that, unlike traditional home solar, anything you generate that you don't use there and then just goes to the grid and you don't get paid for it. That should be fine though - you're still helping decarbonise the grid and you're all the more incentivised to shift consumption to when the sun's out, which most of us could do more with appliances like washing machines and dishwashers, and perhaps especially lawn mowers

Edit: note that companies like Anker Solix sell plug-in solar with battery storage, which is another way to handle matching supply and demand

I've just switched to Pop_OS and so far I'm really impressed. Very fast, and Cosmic desktop has a totally different design and aesthetic to any other DE

There is a theory that if alien life exists, those organisms will be roughly our size. The reasoning is that you can't achieve advanced civilisation without fire, and you can't tend a fire if you're much smaller or larger than a human.

Not my theory, but an interesting thing to consider
