The knives? Because they're useful! How else will I clean my nails or cut tubing when I'm inevitably having to work on the plumbing again.

No need for a poop knife with a composting toilet tho.

(Mostly a few morakniv 546 but I just expanded my Grohmann collection after visiting the factory)

This made me realize I didn't have a knife in the bathroom and that I should probably fix that. Otherwise I tend to only have one of everything since I pretty much only have one living area to fill.

    (Ouh and fire extinguishers!)

Unprotected bike lanes are actually worse than nothing so yeah.

I miss living on the Toronto harbourfront and being able to bike an hour in either direction along the lake with very minimal interactions with cars..

I've worked in municipal IT my whole career and even during the latest big conference I attended the AI presentations were fairly tame and cautious.

Municipalities move SLOWW and most still don't have a fully fledged out AI policy so no-one is forcing you to use LLMs. I do keep having to tell people that the ai answer they copy pasted to me is completely wrong so that's fun lol.

Is is also nice to know that at the end of the day you're helping someone maintain a city more efficiently for the people living there instead of enriching some corpo overlords.

Pay is ~15% less than industry average but the benefits tend to be good with great job security and hours.

I did but my family is québécois and I grew up in northern NB. I remember it being a thing there but not after moving to northern Ontario.

"Poisson d'avril" is synonymous with "April fools" in my experience even in Ontario but without the actual fish part.

Mostly unrelated but my cat never seems to get seasick. In fact her sea legs are superior to mine so long as she stays off the slippery table.

This is where I was getting some info from.

    https://pivot-to-ai.com/2026/10/30/proton-mail-goes-full-ai-slop-tuta-starts-going-slop/

"Internal use is different because whoever is committing LLM-assisted code takes full responsibility for it and is therefore staking their reputation on that code being good. Git blame will also still show their name."

So no external AI code but internal is fine apparently.

Seems like tuta is going the way of the slop code as well from what I've been seeing. Mailbox.org is topping my list for now. VPN hasn't been decided yet. Everything else I'll just self host on my vps behind wireguard.

    [Solved]

I'm still having issues seeing posts on sailing communities but also buycanadian@lemmy.ca won't show any of the new posts unless I happen to catch them in my subscription or the ALL page.

    Lemmy.ca com I'd hope would work... https://lemmy.ca/c/buycanadian?dataType=Post&sort=New&showHidden=true

Small sailing com we got to federate properly in my last post on here is back to showing no posts https://lemmy.ca/c/Sailing@thebrainbin.org?dataType=Post&sort=Active&showHidden=true

Bigger sailing community also won't show posts newer than 1 year old https://lemmy.ca/c/sailing@lemmy.world?dataType=Post&sort=Active&showHidden=true

After searching for Sailing@thebrainbin.org specifically on Lemmy.ca it seems to get federated as it now shows up in https://lemmy.ca/c/Sailing@thebrainbin.org but even after successfully posting to the com from my Lemmy.ca accout (as can be seen https://thebrainbin.org/m/Sailing/t/1867184/Fog-fog-WHALES-and-then-more-fog) I can't view any posts including my own from this instance without a direct link.
