Yeah, I posted some in-progress pics yesterday, biggest lathe job I've had so far - it's used for HEMA (Historical European Martial Arts)
On this diameter (the blank started about 50mm) and with the corners already taken off on the table saw, it's absolutely fine - with a sharp chisel you're through the chunkachunka in a few seconds
About 90mins to go from the blank to the thing in my hands, I'm a very inexperienced turner so don't quite have the techniques down for doing it quickly yet
Gonna probably just wax it for a comfortable hand experience and to bring the grain out
