Digital ID offers a secure and private way for users to create an ID in Apple Wallet using information from their U.S. passport, and present their ID with iPhone or Apple Watch

Or ... a new way to have to ask Apple's permission to show your ID

What's crazy to me is how many people will enable it. Like wtf?!

Devil’s advocate: if you carry an iPhone (and you’re even moderately bought into the ecosystem), they already know who you are, where you go, and what you do. There’s nothing on a standard identity document that they don’t already have.

I could see this being a real convenience if you did a lot of travel. When I travel domestically, the only thing that I use my physical wallet for is my ID.
