Did lemm.ee already shut down? (lemmy.today)

I've been trying to log in to my alt account to get some things in order, but my browser is refusing to connect to the domain. I also went through some old posts, and it looks like any images uploaded to lemm.ee have been deleted. So, unless some servers had mirrored the images, it looks like the pictures have been lost to the sands of time.

RIP, lemm.ee, and thanks to all the admins of that instance for all their hard work. Next time, I will definitely use an external host like postimages.org so this doesn't happen again.

Until postimages.org dies. The only way to be safe from shutdowns is self-hosting.

Why hasn't anyone taken it over?

It's not theirs to take over. There was barely any communication about this, they asked for admins a couple of times then posted about shutting down. They didn't offer for someone else to host it.
