it really puts into perspective how wrongly americans are implementing automation like AI -- people are rejecting it like the Luddites did to their textile machines and not a single one of them seem to be aware that it didn't work for the Luddites, but are somehow convinced that it''ll work for them anyways.

You can't still be spreading this 19th century capitalist propaganda in 2026.

The luddites were 100% in the right. They weren't "rejecting technology," they were rejecting child labor and the concentration of wealth that comes from privately owned capital (like the textile machines that enabled children to be very productive)

It's not that they're wrong, it's that the populace is acutely award that the benefits of productivity gains flow exclusively to the top 0.1% of the population. As far as most of America is concerned, data centers are factories that raise their prices on everything, while causing poverty. All the collective gains that could be made, are completely and intentionally cut off.

All sadly true and why it's a pity.

I just learned earlier today about the people in the Russian and French revolutions attacked whatever they perceived to be cause of their problems -- it's like scapegoating immigrants or trans people but in physical structure.

Moving to capitalism hasn't changed the basic structure of a class society in the long run due to wealth capture. The basic drive to do better by your progeny causes the creation of a new de facto aristocracy over a long enough time line. So the overall societal effects will eventually repeat.
