I have no experience with immutable distros, but aren't they pretty config file heavy? Are they that nice to operate as a brand new user?

I personally use one that's config file heavy and I like it because I have two devices so I can change something on both without issue

I get that, and its a pretty strong selling point, but I dont think that makes them beginner friendly.

As a beginner Ubuntu was more frustrating, I prefer one config file to hundreds of bread crumbs left all over the system.

Anyone remember putting 90-mouse.conf in xorg.conf.d to turn off mouse acceleration? Each time you went to do something it would be some change in some file on your system. No way to remember what you did when your in place upgrade fails and you need to restart fresh

I use Fedora Silverblue and it's pretty beginner friendly. It's hard to break and you just install and uninstall apps with the Software app. I don't think you need to worry about a single config file.
