American voters sent a warning about what happens when governments lose sight of citizens' daily lives. Aussie voters want affordable groceries and housing, better aged care, and a secure future for our kids and Country. If Anthony Albanese keeps telling us those things are too expensive while continuing to waste billions on AUKUS, an electoral reckoning will follow.

Yeah but who are we going to vote for? The mainstream people I talk to won't vote Green no matter what, they end up looking at the Liberals, who will maintain AUKUS, or PHON who will do what their paymasters tell them.

We are a disaffected populace who are entirely too driven by the narratives coming out of the various idiot boxes we pay way too much attention to. Look at the last Queensland state election, or the next Victorian state election to see how vibes based voting is.

Unless the worldwide economic situation radically changes in the next year we are going to see Labor kicked out based primarily on fuel price driven inflation that we (and our government) don't control. Replaced with, in all likelihood, an uneasy lame duck parliament of whatever unholy abomination of a coalition of Liberals and PHON can cobble together.

They are going to realise they have 3-4 years to sell off as much of the country as they can before the public wake up to the massive mistake we have made.

I don't see how our way of life survives another round of billionaire apologists tearing down everything we have built up over the last 70ish years.

Once the wealth disparity gets really bad and all the small to medium businesses that rely on the middle class to survive have collapsed we will be rapidly racing towards the bottom and all the wealthy vampires will start carving the continent up based on what minerals and cheap labour they can command. It's disgusting.

We are a disaffected populace who are entirely too driven by the narratives coming out of the various idiot boxes we pay way too much attention to.

So those of us who are not disaffected need to keep talking to people wherever we can and particularly get young people more involved and talking to disengaged people in their cohort.

Despite the panorama not looking great we must not allow pessimism to get hold. Look at what the Americans have had to face: as well as serious financial hardship for everyday people in the millions, they've had to deal with big losses in all public services, ICE on the streets intimidating, roughing up people and worse, young military personnel losing their lives in the Gulf State US Bases, and a deep level of political decay to name a few issues. They saw how people in their communities were suffering and they gave their govt the finger. Young men and Hispanics turned the election around because they could see what their government was doing to them. They still have a lot more to face but what I'm trying to say is that painting a dark picture for our future and believing in it will only make us create that future.

So, we have to want a decent future and bring people along, especially young people who have a long life ahead.

EDIT: We must keep our govts and local MPs know what we want and what we need now. We cannot allow money that is needed by our communities to be lost on nuclear submarines, nuclear waste dumps and bloody weapons consultants and the like.
