I think this is one of the most comprehensive critiques of Reddit on the net.

I wouldn’t use TDLR. It literally means “too long didn’t read” and it comes off a petulant in this case. It’s intentionally an in depth piece.

It’s 2026, you can bother a robot with your seemingly contrarian lack of interest. Lack of attention span? Lack of processing ability? I’m not sure.

"TL;DR" covers a host of sins, and we live in a world drowning in information, confusion, propaganda, and rapid change. Still, like most people, I use that popular acronym as an easily-understood placeholder, you know what I mean?

Sure, I could spend every little bit of mental effort I had as a dying man to try to focus in and understand any particular lengthy article, and that's fine. But it's also a 'choose your poison' kind of situation IME. Every day is full of them.

I can tell you this, tho-- if I'd read any particular article and felt like I'd understood it well, and then someone who hadn't came up to me and asked what it was about, well... generally speaking I'm pretty sure I'd at least be able to give it a quick overview for the stranger.

I mean... I've personally been on Reddit for 10+yrs, and I feel like I've -also- discovered some things about them during that timeframe. Indeed, the whole reason I've been here for 3+yrs is because of the shit that went down during the summer of '23.

    You?
