I was really disappointed by it as well. The thing that really annoys me is when great scifi concepts and premises get wasted because they develop the show with lazy characters and plot, and that's entirely how I felt S1 go down.

It's not good writing for the main character to make a lot of bad choices. Writing a "flawed human being" only goes so far, before your character is acting so improbably idiotically they're just an avatar of the writer's need for plot conflict. That's pretty much what I felt slogging through S1.
