Ya. Why be correct when so many people like that you're wrong.

It's not wrong. You can think it's stupid but it's not wrong.

It’s interesting that they wrote that whole speech to refute a claim I never made. My only claim was “line go down is funny.”

    Thus, the cavemen-staring-at-a-lighter reference.

The only reason you find it funny is because you see a red line going down and think, "Teehee." You even posted it to c/funny in some poorly conceived ironic gesture.

You have absolutely no clue what that red line represents or how any of it actually works.

No... It's not. I never said it was.

I'm getting downloaded... People are upset with me being wrong. Why are all of you this dense?

I can't even see downvotes on here but I'm sure you're getting down voted for being an asshole not because you're "wrong".

And that would only exemplify my point.

The voting systems on platforms like this are based almost exclusively on the honor system, even more so on Lemmy, where votes aren't calculated and tallied in the same manner as they are on Reddit. Ultimately, they serve little purpose beyond providing a metric for measuring how much engagement a post is receiving.

Technically, according to the platform's own rules, you're supposed to vote on the content and context of a post, not your knee-jerk emotional reaction to it. Whether or not you like me, my tone, or the way I express myself should have absolutely no bearing on how you evaluate the factual merit of my comment.

For the record, I'm fully aware of this phenomenon, and I'm perfectly prepared to receive whatever negative attention comes with it. However, sometimes calling people out for what they are isn't necessarily being mean. Sometimes it's simply being brutally honest.

The complete lack of even a basic understanding of how the American stock market works is genuinely shocking. These are people with access to the internet, meaning they have the resources to educate themselves, yet they choose instead to broadcast their uninformed opinions for everyone else to shake their heads at.

There is absolutely no accountability here. Nobody, least of all the administrators, seems particularly interested in holding anyone responsible for the misinformation and intellectual sewage being presented as legitimate information.

And that's why you think I'm being mean. I'm not. I'm simply unwilling to pretend that ignorance is knowledge or that uninformed opinions deserve the same consideration as factual, well-reasoned arguments.

Then stfu? No one cares about your arguments anyway. You're on a fucking meme sub trying to debate people who think it's funny that reddits stock dropped.

No. I will not. This is an open and public forum. I can say whatever the hell I want, whenever I want.

You can shut the fuck up. Nobody wants your shitty opinion about what I have to say.

And stop responding to me. Jesus Christ, quit wasting both your time and mine by continuing to engage with me.

God, you're too stupid to understand some of the simplest concepts of the very stock market that our entire economy runs on. And then you have the audacity to complain that this is a meme sub because I had something to say beyond simply agreeing with the joke.

The reactions to this post are a perfect illustration of how little most people actually understand about how the stock market works. Rather than engage with the subject, they'd rather dismiss anything that goes beyond the meme.
