In our family's chat, every time my brother tried to send something along the lines "the new law which allows French police to kill protesters", Telegram would inject an article below his words, which "debunks those claims". Fuck off Duroff, it's a fucking family chat, not a twitter wall (which i don't have btw, but i was told that how it works there)

EDIT: I provided the screencapture below in the comments. It is confusing, but I think my brother copied the text from somewhere, and the "debunk" link was automatically saved & restored when you copy-paste it. Simply re-typing the said text doesn't trigger it. So the link is definitely saved from previous source

The fact that the link appeared instantly when you sent the message is suspicious. Something else is going on here. Also I noticed that the link was already included at the start of the recording.

You're doing something weird. Try to copy the text from here on Lemmy with no link anywhere, paste it in a new message with nothing weird in it and send.

Yeah as I said in the edited paragraph in the beginning; I think what happended is that the link gets copied, even if manually deleted. It then reappears, despite being visually deleted. So what looks like "automatically being inserted", is actually was there, but hidden

Yeah, so it was never automatically inserted by Telegram. It was always included by the user, at least initially. It seems like there's a bug in Telegram not showing a link when editing but including it when sending.
