I think the faith indigenous communities have built is with the crown and courts. The crown has found it cheaper to access resources by making deals the last decade or so. The courts have been piling precedent after precedent about treaties being deeply constitutional.

The people, I suspect indigenous Canadians are still wary of.

There is a layer of obfuscation at play here. Because there are traditional chiefs and elected chiefs for many given territories. It's not consistently clear who speaks to the actual interests of the indigenous peoples and who is catering to corporations for personal gain.

A lot of people's in BC never ceded territory or signed treaties. So when conversations about mines and pipelines occur, it is very difficult for non-indigenous laymen such as myself to know who is the legitimate representatives.

One thing I dont like or trust though is people saying: because there is a fight internally over chiefs versus elections, we should maybe invalidate their voice as a whole. You are not directly saying it, necessarily. But its what impact your message has.

Well find someone saying that and comment under them. IMO caring enough to ask does not have the negative impact you're conflating. I'm fully disappointed in your response. You need to learn to make your point better.
