Agree with you. I don't care how good a person's reflexes are. If your car is traveling at 70 mph, you are not going to be able to avoid hitting someone who chooses to cross an interstate highway in the dead of night. A human driver would have hit the person too. This is just bad journalism with a sensationalized headline.
