Do people not use editors any more? Jfc how does this happen?

IDK about other writers, but I have an editor who is going through my novel as I write it. It's a nice process.

My editor is married to my cousin and is a good friend of mine, so I just asked for her services and she readily agreed. Where are you located? I can see if the publishing startup she's in has like online applications and what their requirements are.

I was also shoehorned into my editor's workload unofficially. I don't have a contract or anything set up yet but will once my novel is done.

I always wondered if you develop a special relationship with your editor working that way? I feel like you'd be good friends at least. My step mom was an editor and she gave me that vibe when I watched her work.

My friend has been given the more difficult books and writers to work with because she only has a part-time day job unlike the other editors who edit while working full time. She says that some writers are really great to work with, but a lot of folks don't like taking the criticism they signed up for.
