Why do you think won't more social media sites follow reddit/lemmy style of communities and votes instead of algorithms? (lemmy.world)

I think it's just so much better of a system where you get to pick your interests(communities) and see everyone inputs and opinions instead of a random feed or picking a few accounts to follow and only see their opinions

Is it engagement? Does Reddit really have any less engagement than Twitter or Instagram?
