Translation: I (as CEO of Ford) failed to address this market and my poor decisions are threatening to come back and bite me. Please save me by blocking my competitors from entering this market. I'll continue to shift away from climate friendly tech to pander to US politics rather than innovate on my merits.

At what point should expect he has some vested intetest for chinease EVs and is hoping to see gains from that when he gets his golden parachut?
