I didn’t even realize we had a bit of an accent until someone asked me about it one time permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] RBWells@lemmy.world 1 point 2 months ago Midwestern vowels, some are kinda nasally. My ex-MIL is from Michigan and that is a recognizable accent for sure. My ex used to get mad because the girl name Dawn and the boy name Don sound nearly identical here but in Michigan apparently sound very different from each other. Delta Dawn, what's that flower you got on? And. Delta Don, what's that flower you got on? Same. Only when I say them in succession can a barely perceptible difference emerge. permalink fedilink source parent [–] dadarobot@lemmy.sdf.org 2 points 2 months ago very similar permalink fedilink source parent [–] Elting@piefed.social 2 points 2 months ago Your map and mine look similar but Louisiana is light blue on mine. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Jimbabwe@lemmy.world 1 point 2 months ago You and @Memnochian@aussie.zone have to fight now permalink fedilink source parent
