[–] Twinklebreeze@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago (8 children) Sir this is a Wendy's permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 8 child comments replies: [–] krathalan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 9 points 5 months ago* (7 children) Yeah, and the Wendy's might as well serve the flesh of the slaughtered horses as well. Dismissing serious, actual life or death concerns with statements like "sir this is a Wendy's" only serve to further silence a group of individuals suffering without a voice. When I initially commented on this, literally none of the 20+ comments acknowledged the horrible reality the horse in the photo is/was forced to endure. If I posted a photo of a starving child with a funny name and everyone was simply laughing at the meme, would you say nothing? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 7 child comments replies: [–] jack_of_sandwich@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 5 months ago (4 children) More than thousands of cattle are killed every year, too. Why is slaughtering horses worse than slaughtering cattle? permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 4 child comments replies: [–] krathalan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 point 5 months ago (3 children) It's not. I was trying to draw a similarity between how little "farm" animals are valued and how little these people value horses. If the meme was about a funny farmed cow name I would've made a similar comment. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 3 child comments replies: [–] jack_of_sandwich@lemmy.sdf.org 1 point 5 months ago (1 child) They value the horses a lot, if they can earn money on the race track. But at some point their value is in their meat. permalink fedilink source parent hideshow 1 child comment replies: [–] krathalan@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 point 5 months ago They value the horses as objects and property, not as individuals beings with their own unique experience of the world. permalink fedilink source parent [–] syreus@lemmy.world 1 point 5 months ago The world is a sad enough place without pointing out the obvious. permalink fedilink source parent [–] BrickEater@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago Horse is actually quite tasty, had some in Japan when I was younger. permalink fedilink source parent [–] Twinklebreeze@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago If a Wendy's near me was serving horse I would order it. permalink fedilink source parent
