I'll tell you mine, I have never, ever sold my colony, and I have never used fire foam shell, tho, i do recognize both of those things as potentially useful, especially, selling your colony, its like a NG+.

I haven't really tried the gene editing stuff. I'm sure there's some ways to make superhumans with it but it seems like a huge pain to set it all up.

Yeah I have done it before, but I like mechanoids more, so I always end up ignoring Genetics in favor of more mech stuff.

What's up with all the negative genes? Why would anyone want to engineer a stupid sick slow weak etc person? Create a Brave New World caste system?

well its a point system, so you sacrifice certain capabilities for other ones. Highmates may not be any good for work or combat, but damn they are great at conversions, trade and as friends for all your pawns to get along with.

Oh sure. I was talking about the gene editing capsules you can buy from traders. Why would you spend on negative traits? Amirite?

occasionally you can get some good stuff for a relatively minor penalty, like giving a shooter the weak trait, or poor social in exchange for better shooting. most the time its stuff like, ugly, poor plants, hair color. still, can reduce the need for food in extreme environments like ice sheet or desert.

but yeah, capsules are typically a crapshoot imo, my husband has gotten some good stuff tho, but he constantly trades, especially with the Empire.

weirdly enough, i find i get the most out of underwhelminghumans. sucking whatever negative traits I can get out of xenotypes and slapping them on pawns where the downsides don't really bug them means less food consumption. I once made some badass superhumans that never slept with nuclear stomachs to return their consumption to neutral, but a bunch of regular dudes bad at planting has been way more practical and easy to set up.
