To be honest, I think we're losing credibility. I don't know what else to put in the description.

Slight tangent, but I see the "GPT hyphen" that is used in academic papers etc, and was wondering if your comment was generated or "human"? I hope that's okay to ask, I was hoping to learn a bit about picking up on "real" vs generated text. :)

Pure curiosity on my part, but given the discussion, I thought it interesting to ask if my detection of AI text needs updating! :)

The —? Yeah, GPT uses it frequently because it was used in a lot of the papers it was trained on. All of my stuff is just me talking xD I don't run it through AI first, it's an extra step I don't feel I need

Thank you, that's really interesting to know.

I was questioning my sanity as besides the fun hyphen I thought human 100%, so its lovely to have my slop/human radar calibrated every now and then! :) Hope you have a lovely day!

    it's called a dash 😭

One way I usually can tell it's AI or human is to see if there's spaces surrounding the longer (—, "em dash") dash. I find AI often puts spaces there while humans often don't.

It caught me out once - I said "oh it's probably AI" because of it, and got a reply saying that it was someone who wrote using them long before LLM nonsense. :) I've now gone with "oh it's ai, unless it's that nice Lemmy user" as my rule of thumb.

Thank you, I forgot the name and was half asleep lol! :)
